That means so, so much to me. Really. I’m really glad that you could enjoy it. :)
I wrote out the answer to that question perfectly to a friend recently, “SAIC is an interdisciplinary school; they really want you to take hold of anything and everything as well as manipulate your curriculum to benefit what you want to do, even if it doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense. They don’t necessarily force you to major in anything unless you feel compelled to be specific. I’m always, always asked what exactly I’m majoring in and because I’m getting my BFA without a primary focus, it’s easiest to say that it’s interdisciplinary. Last year, they kind of threw me into a lot of different mediums and I sort of took hold of all of them. So, right now I’m mainly working with installation, painting, craft (paper, book arts, fibers) and I’m going to be looking into illustration, web design, etc. Last year, I worked a lot with sculpture, film and installation. My theory on it is that focusing on one major can be limiting. I’d be better off saying that I have a BFA with a broad, well-rounded spectrum of things to show for myself rather than to simply do and focus in one thing. I hope that makes sense.”
I hope that answers your question! Thank you again!
